Back in the Saddle Again

As of today, I am officially a beekeeper once again! It is so hard to have no bees! Thank you to Jonathan Faust, who sold me frames of bees to which I added a Saskatraz queen from Oliveraz Honey Bees. I installed them this morning in the blue Long Hive at the apiary site on 112th Ave. in Otsego. All our queens arrived safe and sound and hopefully are all safely hived at this point. We will make a second order in about a month and go from there. Everything is blooming and so far the spring looks promising. I had to scythe down the grass and "weeds" (bee food) around the hives so we can get to them. Stay tuned, I hope to populate the other three hives in the coming weeks.
